Since its inception, the Segway PT has helped thousands of people be empowered, not limited, in their mobility. In fact, the Segway was invented during the process of developing a self-propelled wheelchair whose wheels could stand end-over-end; the iBOT. While the Segway is not a medical device, it can be very useful in certain situations.
With or without the addition of a variety of seats and other configurations, the Segway PT has allowed many people to continue living their daily lives with a little extra assistance. There are benefits unique to the different Segway models and mobility configurations, such as:
- Gen1 Segways allow the user to bear weight on the center frame while mounting
- Gen2 Segways are equipped with LeanSteer techonolgy, a very intuitive and easy way to turn by leaning
- Seats such as the SegSaddle enable the user to ride a Segway without having to stand the entire time
-Chairs such as the Ally chair provide full support for the rider, similar to a wheelchair design
We have Segways available for purchase or rent; whether you need a permanent solution for when your Mulitple Sclerosis flairs up, or a temporary solution to keep you moving after a surgery, we can help you discover if a Segway is the right option for you.
